Lakeside Queens clinch maiden SheFootball Cup

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side, Lakeside Queens has been crowned the Champions of the maiden SheFootball Cup on Saturday.

The second-tier league side pipped Royaltoms Queens 0-1 at Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.

A 23rd-minute goal by Temi Aduramomi ensured that Lakeside Queens clinched the title ahead of the third-tier NWFL Nationwide League side.

Lakeside Queens won three games en route to the title as the team defeated PS Academy 0-1, Phoenix Queens 3-5 on penalties, and earned a 0-1 win in the final over Royaltoms Queens.

Another NWFL Championship outfit, DreamStar FC Ladies won the bronze medal on penalties over Phoenix Queens.

After a 0-0 draw in regulation time, DreamStar FC Ladies won the bronze medal game 4-2 on penalties.

8 teams started the journey on Saturday with Ijamido Queens, English Queens, Future Stars, and PS Academy falling by the wayside after the first game of the tournament.

The first set of games gave way to DreamStar FC Ladies, Royaltoms Queens, Phoenix Queens, and Lakeside Queens making it to the semi-final.
