The Editorial crew of leading Cameroonian Sports News portal, www.kick442.com have been invited to Yaoundé for the maiden edition of the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Awards (CENPA) scheduled this Thursday.

Organizers of the eagerly awaited event reached out to our Editor in Chief, Angu Lesley this week to draw his attention to the need to be at the Hilton Hotel for the event to be attended by a host of dignitaries under the distinguished patronage of Cameroon’s Minister of Communication, Rene Sadi.

It’s unclear if the invitation puts kick442.com in contention for an award or it’s a simple request to have its head of editorial crew live the rare moment.

The CENPA which groups 35 English Language Newspaper Publishers was created a few years back to promote national unity, peace reporting and responsible Journalism will make its first landmark move by awarding best practitioners this Thursday from 5pm at the Hilton Hotel.

In an attempt to make the awards more credible, the organizers have constituted a jury of substance – with reputable Cameroonians from the Media, Administrative, Business and Legal corps of the society.

The eyes of the World will be on the Jury made up of Barrister Akere Muna, Senator Nfon Ekoto Mukete, Esther Omam and Legendary Ngah Christian Mbipgo of The Guardian Post Newspaper as they decide winners of the various awards on offer.

30 national and international Media organizations have received invitation for the unprecedented event tipped to be the turning point in the life of Journalism in Cameroon.

The upcoming event has shown attributes of the kind of Award ceremonies that many have craved for over the years, given the lose way of sharing awards in our society these days.
