Cameroon international Jean Emile Junior Onana started for the third game in a row for his French Ligue 1 club RC Lens as they beat Olympique Marseille 2-1 to intensify their grip on the second spot on the log after 34 matches in the championship.
Skipper Seko Fofana and Luis Openda scored for the host in either halves before veteran Dimitri Payet racked home a late consolatory goal as the hosts picked up the telling win against their direct rivals.
Marseille performed better on the night but Lens made the most of their chances to earn the win that put them two points clear of Marseille, and six behind leaders PSG.
The game seemed to be destined for a first-half without goal when skipper beat the Marseille keeper with five minutes left on the clock.
Openda doubled the advantage 15 minutes upon resumption but Payet ensured it was a nervy finale as he scored with two minutes of regulation time left.
Unfortunately for the visitors, they couldn’t complete the comeback as the Blood and Gold held on to get their 21st win in 34 games this season.
Fans celebrated for hours before leaving the Stade Bollaert-Delelis as their side took a strong step towards UEFA Champions League qualification with four games left.

Onana has made 18 appearances in the French Ligue 1 championship this season but is still running after his first goal and or assist.
