JB Bisseck includes Tabe Brenda in Cameroon’s 23-Woman provisional squad for Uganda clash

Coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck has through the communications of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) published a squad of 23 players to enter camp ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics games FIFA qualifier tie against the Crested Cranes of Uganda.

The list published this Monday, October is made up of home based players, dominated by the extraction from reigning champions of the country’s flagship women’s Football championship, Lekie Filles of the Guinness Super League.

Lekie that outclassed all to land their maiden title last season has five players on the list while FAP, FC Ebolowa and last season’s runners-up Eclair share four players each.

Bibout Eliane of Éclair, Lekie Filles’ skipper Moumazim Michele Brigette and Tchanko Diane of FAP are some of the lead newcomers that join Tim Shalom Nakoma of Authentic Ladies, plus Lekie trio Ngah Manga, Raissa Nnanga and Tabe Brenda and Mbomozomo Brigette Yvana who made the cut last time out.

2023 Guinness Super league MVP,  top scorer Marie Giselle Ngah Manga even featured last month against Kenya.

The team is expected to enter camp on Tuesday afternoon to intensify preparations for the double-header.

The coach is expected to trim the squad and include players based abroad in the final squad before the games in Kampala and Douala.

Cameroon was exempted from the first round of the qualifier while coach Ayub Khalifa’s Uganda earned their berth in the second round after eliminating Rwanda in the first round.

According to FIFA sources, coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s team is expected in Kampala where they will face the She Cranes on October 26, at the FUFA technical center. The game will be the team’s first after their pre-mature elimination from the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) race, and an opportunity to restore its pride as a lead team on the continent.

The return-leg game will be played five days later in Cameroon – with the aggregate winner to progress in the third round of the qualifier to face either Nigeria or Ethiopia.

The clash will provide a rare meeting of both national teams a chance for Uganda to dream of a first Olympic qualification while Cameroon looks to return to the competition for the first time since London 2012.

The list which will eventually be trimmed in the days ahead, has five ladies on reserve and they are also of the Guinness Super League.
