Jean Baptiste Bisseck, the head coach of the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon has attempted to ease expectations on his team by drawing comparisons with a primary school expected to deliver secondary school results.

Cameroon are bidding to qualify for the Tokyo 2024 Olympic games again after years of near misses since Enow Ngachu last achieved it during the London 2012 games.

Likening the team to primary and secondary school, may not seem an immediately obvious way to alleviate pressure especially after the team’s shock defeat to Kenya, which amounted to elimination from the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) signaling fallow years than successful ones.

Bisseck, winner of the MTN Elite One championship with Cotonsport and Cup of Cameroon with Eding Spot, has endured a false start with the Lionesses – losing the AWCON 2024 qualification tie against Kenya.

However, he continues his assignment to guide the Lionesses to glory when he confront Uganda later next month in the Olympic qualifier.

On the heel of that disappointment and in projection for the future he said:

“You can’t give me a team in primary school and expect the team to succeed in the advanced level on the same day, it’s impossible.”

Though Cameroon’s elimination from the AWCON is a bitter pill to swallow, it is also fair to say that Bisseck barely settled when the organized Kenyan team came to town with their tails up.

Cameroon will face Uganda at home and away in the FIFA organized Olympic qualifier tie to determine which team advances to the next round of the competition.

The first-leg game will be played on October 26 in Kampala and the return game days after in Cameroon.

Lionesses diehard hope by then Bisseck would have found the winning formula.
