ISOHSA of Limbe have been docked three points and fined after their MTN Elite 2 playdown clash against Apejes of Mfou descended into chaos.

The match was halted at the 40th minute, with ISOHSA players lying down on the turf in protest of what they saw as a dubious penalty that put them 1-0 down. The club, already aggrieved by what they claim has been consistent biased officiating throughout the playdown, felt they had had enough.

During the protest, ISOHSA captain Arrey Jeffer Oduak was called to the technical bench to collect a paper bearing a message condemning the officiating. However, the referee interpreted this as the captain leaving the field of play and showed him a red card.

With tensions flaring, matters took an ugly turn when the referee shockingly headbutted the ISOHSA skipper, an incident that brought the match to an abrupt end. The Homologation and Disciplinary Commission has not yet ruled on the referee’s violent conduct.

As a result of the abandoned game, ISOHSA have forfeited the fixture, with Apejes awarded three points and a 3-0 victory. The Limbe-based club has also been fined 500,000 FCFA for walking off.

Further adding to their woes, ISOHSA were fined an additional 500,000 FCFA for unsporting behaviour during their 1-2 loss to Fovu of Baham. In that match, Fovu were awarded a controversial penalty at extra time.

Though the initial effort was saved, the rebound was turned in ,a goal ISOHSA argued should not have stood as the assistant referee had already flagged. The commission dismissed their complaint and upheld the result.

ISOHSA, the 2023 National Interpools champions, are yet to issue a fresh statement, but had previously decried what they believe as a “witch-hunt” against them. Despite leading in all three of their playdown matches, they are winless , with each match marred by questionable penalties and red cards that have gone against them.

Meanwhile, the commission also ruled on the abandoned Dynamo vs Gazelle fixture. Dynamo, who trailed 1-2 before the game was stopped due to security concerns, were awarded all three points after a disputed penalty sequence saw the Gazelle goalkeeper save multiple retaken spot-kicks.
