Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe have made a strong start to the 2024/25 MTN Elite Two championship season, winning two and picking a draw in their opening three matches this term.
With 15 new players injected into the team this season, the Limbe-based club that reached the semi-final of the Cup of Cameroon last season has continued from upsetting the odds with some impressive results and performances.
ISOHSA began the new year on a positive note with a 1-0 victory over Djiko FC on match day 4 of the ongoing MTN Elite Two Championship, courtesy of a penalty goal from Intermediate Lions midfielder Ashu Brice Tabi.
Per their vice president, strategic recruitment explains the current energy;
“We picked up players from clubs that did well against us and finished better than us last season plus the best players around to make us more competitive,” Angu said.
In just their second season in the second division, the club is making significant strides, currently occupying the second position in Group A with seven points.
Notably, the team has beaten legendary TKC, Djiko of Bandjoun and played a draw against 2017 Elite One winners Eding Sport de la Lekie.
This is undoubtedly a result of the well-calculated recruitment undertaken this season, with each area of play benefiting from the infusion of fresh talent.
In the build-up to the new season, the club brought in 15 players to bolster the squad. Notable additions include Randy Che from Canon Yaoundé, Alfred Mbita from Dragon Yaounde, Jean Pierre Lomo from Renaissance of Ngoumou, and Agbor Bogard from Astres of Douala, to name a few. Bogard Agbor for example, was very instrumental in ISOHSA’s new year win against Djiko FC with a goal-line clearance that frustrated the Djiko fans and brought joy to the boys of Limbe.
While ISOHSA serves as a platform for players to shine, the club also transfer out some of its players this season. The most prominent departure is Albert Tiku Egbe, who has joined Union of Douala. It should be recalled that this forward led ISOHSA to their promotion to the Elite Two, earning the title of best player and top scorer of the national interpools. In the same like they have transferred last season Elite Two top scorer Ikose Njuma Conrad to Colombe of Dja.
The club not only transferred players to the local league but also facilitated moves to France, Turkey, and Germany.
These players are flying the flag of ISOHSA high on the international stage, while the condensed squad at home continues to live up to expectations as the club strives for success.
The question on many lips is how far can the club go this season especially in the third year of their reformation and on the occasion of it’s tenth anniversary?
