Ambitious Southwest football franchise Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe have officially gone top of the MTN Elite Two championship even without kicking a ball.

The new status was attained by the club this Thursday, February 27 after the homologation and disciplinary panel of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) sanctioned Eding Sport de la Lekie for absenting their December 14, 2024 appointment against Djiko FC of Bandjoun in the opening weekend of the season.

The decision signed by the Nkengni Felix led commission noted the absence of Eding Sport while Djiko FC were at the Bandjoun stadium for the game that never happened.

Eding had actually written to FECAFOOT requesting for the game to be rescheduled while they battle for their players to be issued licences amidst a FIFA ban on registration of new players.

“Eding Sport loses three points in their general classification and Djiko wins the game with a +3 goals average,” the core of the decision read.

The decision means Eding Sport that picked up 15 points from four wins and three draws in seven of their eight first round matches losses one game in that phase of the championship. This takes the club off the perch of the classification table while ISOHSA that accumulated 14 points goes atop and Bafmeng United sits second with Eding and FAP ranked in third and fourth positions respectively.

Eding will face Djiko FC in Yaoundé this weekend while Bafmeng United takes on TKC in two of three crucial fixtures in Yaoundé as FAP.

In the other Group A match, top four chasing Abong Mbang will be in the West Region to challenge Fovu who are battling for their lives in the second tier championship.

ISOHSA will be on standby in the opening weekend of the second phase of the championship but will be back in action on March 8 when they take on TKC of Yaoundé.

The matches of the return round of the championship for Pool B clubs will equally get underway this Saturday.
