Cameroon women’s Guiness Super league side, AS Awa FC, have brought in five new players as they prepare for the upcoming UNIFFAC games scheduled to take place in Yaoundé from August 12-18, 2023.
Defense women , Ngono Marie Victoire and 20-year old Engolo Aboudi Jennifer from Eclair of Sa’a, Brigitte Omboudou from Amazon’s FAP(midfielder), Jeanne Kouesso Magoumkoua(defender) and Achta Toko Njoya from Eclair.
Coach Hassan Balla Ibrahim and his girls have been in camp ahead of this competition and has already gotten the new recruits engaged in intense training.
AS Awa were runners up of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League UNIFFAC qualifiers and will be hoping to be the representative from this zone as only the winner will progress to the eight team tournament in Ivory Coast from November 5-19, 2023.
They will represent Cameroon as 2022 Champions of the Guiness super league.
The three time champions of the Cameroon women’s football championship(2018,2021,2022) finished the 2022/23 Guiness super league football season 9th on the classification with 19points, 38 away from leaders Lekie FC and two places away from the relegation zone.
