Harold Moukoudi’s 52nd-minute strike proved decisive as AEK Athens edged out Inter Escaldes 4-3 in the first leg of the Europa Conference League’s second qualifying round at the OPAP Arena on Wednesday, July 24.

The match was evenly contested, with both teams controlling different halves. AEK Athens dominated the first 45 minutes, scoring three goals within 31 minutes.

Robert Ljubičić opened the scoring in the 6th minute, disrupting Felip Ortíz’s game plan. Levi García doubled the lead in the 20th minute, making it 2-0. Mijat Gaćinović added a third goal 11 minutes later, ending the first half with a 3-0 scoreline.

Returning from the break, Moukoudi delighted the home crowd with a fourth goal, his first of the season.

Despite the seemingly decisive scoreline, Inter Escaldes fought back to keep the suspense alive. Domagoj Vida’s own goal in the 65th minute made it 4-1. Sascha Andreu converted a penalty in the 78th minute, and Víctor Martínez Manrique brought Inter Escaldes within one goal in the 83rd minute.

The return-leg is scheduled for August 1.
