AEK Athens completed an 8-3 aggregate win over Inter Escaldes from Andorra this Thursday in the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League third round preliminaries with a telling Harold Dersty Moukoudi in their defence.
The mighty defender who scored in the reversed fixture to secure a 4-3 home win was unbeatable at the heart of the defense for the Greek Super League side, alongside 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up, Domagoj Vida from Croatia.
Trinidad and Tobago forward Levi Garcia scored a hat-trick while veteran midfielder Nordin Amrabat, 37, climbed off the bench and scored the other goal on the night Matias Almeyda’s men showed no mercy for their host.
AEK entered the second-leg knowing they could advance to the next round by simply avoiding any sort of defeat.
It took only 29 minutes for García to silence the home fans after the early domination.
The goal from the visitors meant the hosts had a mountain to climb as they had to get three unanswered goals to progress to the next round.
The visitors took the slim advantage to the interval but upon resumption the flood gates opened and hosts were made to pay.
AEK completely controlled the game and Garcia eventually got the insurance goal in the 74th minute of the game and completed his hat-trick deep into the game after Amrabat had made it 3-0 with an 83rd strike.
The 86th minutes goal was Garcia’s first treble in the competition and puts him in a good position to be one of the top scorers of the competition.
AEK Athens will face Armenia franchise Noah FC in the next round of the competition, hoping to get the better of them and take confidence into the start of the Greek Super League season on August 18, against OFI Crete.
