Marie Claire Kibinde scored a late penalty to help Authentic Ladies of Douala relegation-threatened Ngadeu FFA by a narrow 1-0 score at the Ndoumbe Oumar stadium on Saturday in match day 16 of the 2022/23 Guinness Super League championship.
Coach Macat side returned to winning ways after their disappointing goalless draw against Eding in the previous outing and also extended their unbeaten run to three games with the result.
Authentic were made to sweat for the three points as hosts Ngadeu FFA did their best to at least get a point from the game and prevent the ambitious Douala outfit from doing the double against them.
Both sides had chances though Authentic Ladies missed most of the chances in the first 45 minutes in another game their finishing was poor as it has been all season. Solange Larkingam and Tim Shalom came close but good goalkeeping and poor finishing prevented the visitors from drawing first blood.
Authentic’s Lead scorer Marie Claire Kibinde was introduced for the last half hour to breakdown the solid defensive mechanism that coach Vladimir Ngadeu had made for the Ngaoundere outfit.
Shalom who had been a menace to the defenders of Ngadeu picked a lose ball inside the hosts half, dribbled past three players but the fourth brought her down at the expense of a penalty. The recently appointed skipper of the team picked the ball and offered Kibinde who made no mistake from the spot.
Kibinde’s fifth goal of the season was enough as Authentic defended well to win the three points that puts them in the driving seat in their quest for a top half finish while Ngadeu stir relegation with the relegation battle final against Caiman being their next game.
