Hatayspor forward Christian Atsu and his club’s Director of Sports Tanet Savut are among hundreds that have gone missing following Sunday’s earthquake disaster in Turkey.
The former Newcastle United and Chelsea man alongside others have not been seen since Sunday’s incident.
Sources say a rescue team have begun an operation to recover the Ghana international and others.
Atsu was part of the Ghana squad that reached the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament and counts 65 caps for his country.
He joined Hatayspor last summer from Al Raed and scored his first goal for the club last weekend. Several of his club colleagues have been rescued from the scene of the incident.
The Daily Mail is reporting that over 1,300 people have lost their lives in the disaster, with a further 6,000 injured, according to officials. A massive aftershock with a magnitude of 7.5 hit Turkey’s south hours after the original quake. Reports say it was felt once again in Syria and also Iraqi Kurdistan.
