- CSKA are leaders of the championship with 21 points from seven matches
CSKA Moscow Ladies were 1-0 winners against Rubin Kazan Women this Sunday in the Russian women’s Football league thanks to Cameroon’s Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene.
The 34-year-old flying winger’s 15th minute goal was all it took for the ladies from the capital to leave Kazan with all three points despite the shift put up by the host in the exciting afternoon at the AK Bars Arena.
CSKA came into the game week 7 contest looking to extend their early lead while Aboudi has the personal motivation of improving her returns in this campaign.
The veteran Cameroonian pounced on a ball around the Rubin Kazan area to establish an early lead for the multiple champions. Aboudi’s fifth goal of the season meant Rubin was condemned to score at least a goal to avoid extending their run of defeats to six games. A very tall order!.
Despite the commendable efforts from the host, they couldn’t get the equalizer and CSKA showed why they only conceded in two of their six games before.
Though Rubin eventually lost the game, they can take pride in the fact that it is their best game defensively this season.
For CSKA, the win makes it seven in a row, which helps them open a five points gap on second-placed Dynamo Moscow who have a game in hand. CSKA have only let in three goals in their opening seven games of the season while scoring 21 goals – five of which is Aboudi’s.
