Ita Mbong FC of Nkambe shot stopper Asonyu Shey Glory has expressed her excitement about being included in the Cameroon squad to prepare for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite the challenges, Glory is making strides and could see the next big thing from Cameroon.

“I am very happy for my call-up, it’s a dream come true,” beamed Asonyu Shey Glory moments after receiving the news of her first-ever senior Indomitable Lionesses selection.

The Ita Mbong FC of Nkambe captain and goalkeeper, based in Nkambe, has long been a standout in the Guinness Super League. Known for her commanding presence and safe hands, she has produced multiple clean sheets and match-winning performance, including a memorable penalty save in stoppage time against Ornella Moluh (Vision Foot) that helped secure Ita Mbong’s first victory of the season in Yaoundé.

When asked if she expected the call, Glory was honest but confident:

“I didn’t expect it, but I believe in myself that a day like this will one day come.”

Her heroics, such as the big win over Authentic Ladies and consistent top-tier saves, have made her a fan favorite. These displays earned her a nomination for Best Goalkeeper of the Season at the MTN Ballon d’Or 2024, alongside Biya Cathy (Éclair FF de Sa’a) and Marthe Yolande Ongmahan (Lekié Football Filles).

Off the field, Glory’s drive is just as impressive, graduating with a degree in Accounting through the TVEE in 2024 and serving as an inspiration to young athletes in her community.

Previously part of the U20 Lionesses camp preparing for the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Poland, this call-up marks a natural step in her rapid rise.

With composure, leadership, and undeniable skill, Asonyu Shey Glory is ready to represent Cameroon at the highest level, taking her journey from Ita Mbong to the grand stage of the Indomitable Lionesses.
