The World football governing body, FIFA, has suspended Spanish football federation president, Luiz Rubiales as they open investigation on his misconduct during the FIFA Women’s World Cup for lip-kissing a player on stage.

Rubiales from all football related activities for a period of 90 days pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against him.

During the official handing of trophies ceremony of the competition’s final where Spain emerged champion, Jenni Hermoso was surprisingly taken on the lips by Rubiales.

That incident sparked a lot reactions from football lovers and widely criticized, wanting to know why a leader would do that before the whole world. However, he claims it was out of joy and excitement for the win.

The player involved took to her social media handle to express disappointment and dissatisfaction in the act, stating she did not consent to that.

This has equally triggered the team’s players to say they will not play any more games with the national team as long as Rubiales is at the helm of the federation.

The suspension comes after the population had pressured the president to resign but he vehemently denied stepping down from his position.

Rubiales risk losing his position as president of Spain’s football federation looking at how forbidden the act has been since last Sunday, August 20 when it was done.

He has been president of this federation since March 2010.
