Cameroon ran riot over the dragons of China, defeating the opponent by 2-0 on tuesday, March 31 at the AAIM park, to secure second place in the 2026 FIFA Series International friendly tournament behind host, Australia, courtesy of early first half goals from Levante forward Karl Etta Eyong and debutant Saidou Alioum Moubarak, in under the first ten minutes of play.

China, currently 93rd in the FIFA standings, fielded a heavily rotated lineup featuring six under-23 players in the starting lineup. Before them, was a physically strong and dominant Cameroonian side who took control of the game from start to finish.

Etta Eyong got the first goal in the 3rd Minute of play, his second international goal before Alioum Saidou delivered a clinical finish from left side of the pitch, just six minutes later, goals that will later prove decisive.

Aboubakar Nagida was unarguably the star performer in this encounter, highly praised for putting up and Xxl performance, setting up all two goals.

The Stade Renais defender after a perfectly executed pass to Etta Eyong, set up Panthere of Nde striker Konrad Nfanseu with a well-worked corner, as he provided the assist, and Alioum slot in a right-footed shot from the center of the box into the top right corner.

The second half was characterized by a series of wasted chances in front of goal as David Pagou’s substitutes added more composure into the game, notably Danny Namaso considered the brightest substitute in this encounter-his intelligence, Stamina on the ball and energy could not go unnoticed. Team Cameroon until the final minutes remained a constant threat to the Dragons.

Cameroon finished the game with 10-men after defense man Stephane Paul Keller in just his debut, was sent off deep into extra time. A second red for team Cameroon whose head coach David Pagou was already watching and giving instructions from the stands after he was shown a contestable red in the second segment of the game.

With the scoreline remaining the same after 90 min, the indomitable Lions concluded their tournament with three points accumulated from two games, sitting second behind Australia in first position, who in a game later in the same day, defeated CuraCao by five goals to Nil.

Cameroon’s well deserved victory was visibly a statement of intent and a moral boost as they gear up for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) qualifiers.
