  •  The most recent FIFA rankings, unveiled on Thursday, April 4, confirm the Indomitable Lions’ steadfast position, securing the ninth rank within Africa and 51st on a global scale
  • The March break witnessed no action for Cameroon, attributed to the vacancy in the coaching role, leaving the team’s ranking unaffected
  • Morocco, Senegal, and Nigeria continue to lead the African continent, holding the top three positions respectively.

As of April 4, 2024, the Indomitable Lions have maintained their place as the ninth-ranked team in Africa and 51st globally.

This position comes during a period of inactivity in the FIFA march calendar, attributed to the vacancy in the coaching role.

Tracing back through the annals of FIFA rankings, Cameroon’s journey has been marked by significant fluctuations. The team’s zenith was achieved on December 16, 2009, when they soared to the 11th position, a milestone that underscored their dominance in African football.

Conversely, the nadir came on March 14, 2013, as they dipped to the 79th spot, prompting a period of introspection and rebuilding.

Over the past decade, the Lions have clawed back , showcasing a gradual ascent from the 50th position in December 2020 to their current standing.

This climb is indicative of the strategic reforms and the infusion of new talent, which have revitalized the team’s international outlook.

The March break of 2024, though quiet due to the absence of a coach, did not see a decline in Cameroon’s ranking, which is an indication for better structure to ensure more growth

One that will start with the new technical staff hired by the ministry of sports and physical education.

Marc Brys and his team of both local and internationals, heralds a new chapter for Cameroon’s football ambitions.
