Following disappointing results recorded in their 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Namibia home and away, Cameroon National team has dropped nine places on the latest FIFA ranking
The Indomitable Lions equally move from the fourth to now seventh position on the African continent.
They’ve lost 29.44 points and dropped to the 42nd position in the world.
In December 2022, the five-time AFCON winners moved 10 places up the FIFA rankings from their former 43rd position, following a near-impressive performance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, beating heavyweight Brazil.
Since then, Rigobert Song Bahanag and his boys only got involved in an international competition during the AFCON qualifiers against the brave warriors of Namibia, encounters which turned out to be a shameful one for Cameroon, after a draw at home and defeat away.
Cameroon before now, were fourth in Africa as all African representatives at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, were in Africa’s top 10 apart from Ghana who occupied the 11th spot.
Morocco maintains it’s position as first on the continent followed by Senegal. The Atlas Lions remains Africa’s first on the latest FIFA Rankings.
