The Federal Commission of Homologation and Discipline of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has delivered its ruling following the violent interruption of the Interpools match between Mintack FC of Haute-Sanaga and Kumba City FC.
The fixture, played as part of the fifth day of the 2024/2025 Interpools, was abandoned in the 75th minute after a pitch invasion by fans that escalated into violence directed at the officials. The situation forced an early halt to the encounter, prompting FECAFOOT to open disciplinary proceedings.
After deliberating, the Commission unanimously decided to order the rescheduling of the game. The replay will be officiated by a new team of referees and, in an additional sanction aimed at preventing a repeat of the disturbances, the match will be played behind closed doors. This decision seeks to ensure fair competition while also addressing the issue of crowd control and safeguarding the integrity of the tournament.
The Commission also reminded the concerned parties that they have a period of five days from the date of notification to request the written reasons for the verdict. Should they fail to do so within the set deadline, the decision automatically becomes final and binding. In such a case, the clubs would be considered to have renounced their right to appeal, in accordance with Article 82(3) of the FECAFOOT Disciplinary Code of October 10, 2023.
This latest ruling highlights FECAFOOT’s determination to reinforce order and discipline within domestic competitions. As the Interpools remain the critical gateway to Cameroon’s top-flight football, the reprogrammed encounter between Mintack FC and Kumba City is now expected to shift attention back to the sporting contest on the pitch rather than the chaos in the stands.
