There’s uneasy calm in Naples after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Campi Flegrei area on Monday evening, 24 hours before their darling club welcomes glamorous Real Madrid, in the second UEFA Champions League game of the season.

Both the Real Madrid and Napoli of African stars Zambo Anguissa of Cameroon and Nigeria’s Victor James Osimhen were not hurt, as they were located away from the affected areas when the quake erupted.

The magnitude 4 earthquake had a 2.61 kilometers depth – the second strongest in the last 40 years, second to the 4.2 magnitude earthquake of September 27.

According to Italian sources, a volcanic caldera which is situated nine kilometers away from the heart of Naples and Salerno were the most affected areas.

Several denizens of the city are said to have vacated their home to seek refuge in open spaces as recommended during such events.

Italian authorities are yet to communicate details of the degree damage but amateur images suggest the area of Agnano had falling debris.

At the moment, there’s uneasy calm. Even in the centre of Naples, where there were Madrid fans and did not even notice the incident.

UEFA is yet to communicate on the fate of the Napoli versus Real Madrid fixture tonight at the Diego Armando stadium.
