2023/24 Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex have arrived Douala Cameroon, 72 hours before their clash against their Cameroonian counterparts in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
FC Samartex players, staff and administration arrived the Douala International Airport on Wednesday evening ahead of their clash against Victoria United FC this Sunday at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
A Samartex delegation of 36 persons arrived Cameroon less than 24 hours after they flew out of Ghana to start their continental journey and strive towards inking their name on the history books.
Samartex, Victoria United – competitions debutants will meet for the first time at the modern infrastructure in the outskirt of Cameroon’s economic capital targeting a positive result ahead of the second-leg clash scheduled for the Accra Sports stadium in Ghana next week.
Victoria United FC that edged Cotonsport, Stade Renard, YOSA to win one of Cameroon’s most controversial championships of all-time are hoping to take their form beyond borders, beginning with the games against Samartex.
With the matches for the first preliminary round set for the this weekend, Samartex are focused on securing a favourable outcome and making a strong statement in their CAF Champions League debut.
An aggregate win for FC Samartex against Victoria United or otherwise will pit them against ASGNN of Niger or Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic in the second round. The fixtures for the second round are scheduled to take place from September 13-22.
