MTN Elite One side Fauve Azur Elite FC of Yaoundé have appointed Théodore Ngatchou as their new head coach, replacing Olivier Nankam at the helm of the club.
Ngatchou’s appointment marks a return to the club for a third spell, underlining the confidence the club’s management continues to place in the experienced tactician.
The former Indomitable Lions defender is no stranger to the Yaoundé-based side, having previously managed the team in two different stints. His familiarity with the club’s structure and playing philosophy is expected to help him quickly settle back into the role.
Ngatchou arrives with significant experience both as a former professional footballer and as a coach. During his playing career, he featured prominently in Germany, notably with VfL Bochum and SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he built a reputation as a disciplined and reliable defender.
After retiring from professional football, Ngatchou transitioned into coaching in Germany, where he worked extensively in youth development structures, including within RB Leipzig’s academy, gaining valuable experience in modern coaching methods and talent development.
His return to Fauve Azur comes at a time when the club is seeking to stabilise performances and strengthen its position in the MTN Elite One championship.
Ngatchou replaces Olivier Nankam, who leaves his position after a spell in charge of the team. Club officials will be hoping that Ngatchou’s experience and knowledge of the team can quickly translate into improved results on the pitch.
With the season progressing, Fauve Azur will be counting on their returning coach to provide leadership, tactical organisation and renewed momentum as the club looks to climb the standings in Cameroon’s top-flight league.
