Argentine gaffer Roberto Di Zerbi has been appointed lead trainer of ambitious French Ligue 1 franchise Olympique de Marseille of Cameroonian duo Faris Moumbangna and Simon Ngapandouetnbu.
Di Zerbi who brought Carlos Baleba Noom Quomah to the Premier League via Brighton and Hove Albion left the English club a few weeks ago with many anticipating he was destined for a bigger challenge.
On Monday, June 24, the French giants announced they had reached an agreement for Di Zerbi to join the Phorceen as replacement for veteran French coach Jean-Louis Gasset.
Gasset who joined on a short-term deal midway into last season left at the end of the campaign, paving way for the arrival of the man who made Brighton tick.
Di Zerbi joins Marseille on a three-year contract to run till June 2027 with the responsibility of putting Marseille back on the map in domestic and continental football.
Brighton will receive €6 millions in compensation from Marseille owners as it was stipulated in the deal that saw them release their trainer.
If his relationship with Baleba is anything to go by, then Ngapandouetnbu and Moumbangna should work harder and hopefully Di Zerbi finds another trustworthy and reliable Cameroonians.
The nine-time French Ligue 1 champions and ten times winners of the French cup now have a coach- one who will need a certain level of investment to match or better his Brighton returns.
In the meantime, Baleba and his Brighton colleagues are patiently waiting for the club to name their new manager.
