  • Marc Brys was appointed in March to rejuvenate the Indomitable Lions squad by identifying potential stars who can contribute to the team’s success in upcoming international competitions
  • Marc Brys has managed club sides in Belgium, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia
  • He has agreed to live in Cameroon during the period of his two-and-half years contract with Cameroon

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Marc Brys has settled for the option to work from a base in Cameroon as part of efforts to connect better with the realities of the country and increase his chances of achieving success during his stint with the five-time African champions.

Close to a month after the Belgian was named the tactical leader of the central African nation’s lead men’s team, sources close to the 61-year-old have briefed kick442.com that he has informed his Greece-based family that he would spend a bulk of his time in Cameroon.

We understand he plans to inform his employers of the decision and will advise against living in a hotel so as to push for an exclusive space to improve his focus and pay attention to local football.

It’s our understanding that the country’s ministry of Sports is keen on having the coach stay permanently in Cameroon.

If all goes as we have gathered, coach Brys will settle in Cameroon’s political capital to easily access the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) and the country’s ministry of Sports and Physical education.

This request comes at a time FECAFOOT’s reaction about Brys’ appointment as coach hasn’t been exemplary. It’s executive committee members had tasked President Samuel Eto’o Fils to name a new about two weeks ago, but nothing has filtered about the request till the moment.

Brys has been in Europe for the past two weeks, holding meetings with players to explain the latest vision of the Indomitable Lions brand while luring those that had not been in the team for some time to return, in addition sharing his vision with those that worked with Rigobert Song in the past two years.

Coach Brys is expected to return to Cameroon before the end of this week to intensify preparations for upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers commitments against Cape Verde Island and Angola.

Cameroon currently tops Group C of the qualifiers with four points from their opening two games of the campaign against Libya and Mauritius Island.

Brys’ decision  to live in Cameroon will help him adapt quickly and reduce the number of wagging tongues that tough-talked their former coaches who worked and return to Europe after the final whistle of every international match.
