Eto’o, 20, is on the books of third tier side UD Poblese has spent the best part of his career in Spain, but most important of all he has been part of the Cameroon national team set up through the U17, U20 and even the U23 category during the previous round of matches against Angola just like Tchato. Both players are tracing the steps of their fathers Samuel Eto’o and Bill Tchato respectively.

Tchato has impressed in his second season in the Montpellier first team this season. His returns earned him a place in Rigobert Song’s senior Lions squad alongside Mvoue and Ngapandouetnbu earlier this month. The trio were reportedly left out of the final squad to make them available for the Gabon clash.

The Olympic Lions travel to Lebreville to confront Gabon on March 25 before returning home for the reversed fixture three days later at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium. The winner of the tie will qualify for the 2023 U23 AFCON tournament in Morocco later this year.

That tournament in Morocco will serve as qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic games.
