  • D.C. United have signed the midfielder from Maccabi Netanya, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC)
  • Enow signed a three-and-a-half-year deal through 2027 with an option in 2028.

Major League Soccer side DC United FC have reached a agreement to sign talented Cameroonian midfielder, Boris Enow Takang from Israeli top-flight championship outfit Macabi Netanya pending P-1 Visa and international transfer certificate.

The $2.2 Millions deal has been agreed, marking a bold step in the addition of the Cameroonian from Maccabi Netanya FC, is a bold statement for a team keen on restoring it’s reputation as a reference.

Enow,24, has penned a three-and-half-year contract with United, bringing an end to his three years stay on the books of Macabi for whom he made 97 appearances.

The box-to-box midfielder had a satisfactory 2023/24 season -being one of the regulars. In all, he cumulated 30 appearances and scored once to help the club maintain its Israeli top-flight championship status before the switch.

“Boris is a talented midfielder with a strong work ethic who is coming into the prime of his career,” Ally Mackay, D.C. United General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer, said. “He reads the game well and will be vital in bolstering our midfield. We are looking forward to integrating Boris into our squad and welcoming him to the nation’s capital.”

D.C. United’s management has made a bold move by bringing in the tremendous potential.

Enow, who has already made his mark at FC Porto and RC Lens before shining at Maccabi Netanya is part of the club’s renaissance project.

D.C. United is struggling for form as they are 13th on the log in the Eastern Conference. Coach Troy Lesesne’s first season at the helm of the club has been tough, but can get better if he get the former FC Porto playmaker going immediately.

Enow began his professional career with Brasseries Academy in Cameroon before he signed for Portuguese club FC Porto’s U-19 team on July 1, 2018. After one season, Enow would work his way up and officially sign for FC Porto B in the second division of Portuguese soccer in 2019. In one season with FC Porto B, the midfielder appeared in 13 matches, scoring two goals while amassing 419 minutes played on his way to win the UEFA Youth League.

Enow has also played for the Cameroonian youth national team at the U20 level making his debut on July 22, 2018 at the age of 18 years old and he joins the club whose women’s faction employed compatriot Ngock Yango Jeanette Grace a few days back.
