  • Nsue’s 17th international goal marked Equatorial Guinea’s great start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign
  • The Nzalang Nacional scored the winner midway into the second segment
  • They are top of group H with three points

Equatorial Guinea’s legendary skipper Emile Nsue scored the lone goal as the Nzalang Nacional recorded a narrow 1-0 win against the Brave Warriors of Namibia this Wednesday in their opening fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Nsue’s second-half strike was enough to help coach Juan Micha Obiang register their first win of the campaign on the night Namibia.

Nsue scored his 17th goal for his country on the 67th minute of the night the hosts dominated possession at the Estadio the Malabo.

The hosts were in charge for the most part of the first segment but couldn’t take their chances as El Salvador and Nsue squandered gilt-edge opportunities to fire them ahead before the interval.

The Central African nation in search of its first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification ticket finally found the breakthrough in the 67th minute when skipper Nsue bundled home a great ball from El Salvador.

The Guineans held on for the rest of the contest to back home their first win of the qualifier campaign.
