Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda has beaten Bamboutos FC of Mbouda 2-1, in a day 12 game of the Cameroon Elite one championship. The game was played at the MTN Arena in Mbouda on Sunday afternoon.
YOSA was the home side though playing away in Mbouda. The yellow submarines had only won two and drawn three of their 10 games in the first round of the championship, but came with determination to turn their Season around.
Captain Tengemo Emmanuel put YOSA ahead at the 38 minute of the game, as coach Anumewa’s side took a one goal lead to the break.
Tengemo doubled the lead at the 53rd to put YOSA two goals up, but Eugène Patrice EDJENGUÉLÉ, pulled one back at the 73rd minute.
YOSA secured all three points, completing their revenge against the Mangwa boys.
Bamboutos had beaten YOSA by a similar 2-1score in the away game on October 16, 2022.
The win for YOSA, also means that they have ended Bamboutos’ 11 games unbeaten run, which dates back to October 2022.
The last time Bamboutos suffered a defeat, was in the Cameroon cup final against Cotonsport on October 02, at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
Since then, they have gone on to beat cotonsport in the Super cup final, and recorded five wins and five draws in the first phase of the Elite one championship.
Despite the defeat, Bamboutos stays top of Group B with 20 points, while YOSA are ninth with 12 points.
