Former Cotonsport of Garoua and Fovu of Baham head coach Souleymanou Aboubakar is closing on a return to management about a year after he was suspended from his role as head coach.
Multiple sources are reporting that the 60-year-old trainer is in advanced negotiation with officials of Canon Yaounde who sacked Jean Baptiste Bisseck earlier today.
If all goes well, Aboubakar, winner of the Cameroon Elite One championship with Cotonsport in 2021 and steward of the ride to the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup that same year will return to the Club for a second spell.
Canon with just 14 points from 10 group A games are seeking redemption and improvement from the 5th position weeks before the resumption of the second segment of the abridged championship.
They could have a veritable firefighting manager in place in the next few weeks in Aboubakar, who comes with over 20 years of experience that has taken him through Djiko FC, Bamboutos FC and even Stade Renard of Melong with whom he won the 2019 Cup of Cameroon title.
