Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe has congratulated Guy Blaise Mayolas, after the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) President was re-elected unopposed for a first full-term as head of the Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) last Saturday.
Dr Motsepe who was represented at the Libreville event by his fourth vice-president, Seidou Mbombo Njoya sent a letter of congratulation to the new UNIFFAC president on Monday.
“Dear Mayolas, it is with huge pleasure that I send you my sincere congratulations for your re-election as president of UNIFFAC, following the elections that happened in Libreville, Gabon.
“Your re-election is testament of the confidence the member Associations of UNIFFAC have in your leadership.
“You have done a wonderful job in promoting football in Congo Republic, UNIFFAC and Africa as a whole,” the president’s letter read.
“Sincere congratulations to the members of your executive committee elected alongside you. I wish you and your EXCO success throughout your mandate,” Dr Patrice Motsepe wrote.
He stood for the elections unopposed and delegates from all eight UNIFFAC members participated, to settle for him as new president through the process supervised by CAF fourth vice president, Seidou Mbombo Njoya.
President Mayolas will continue the transformation job he started in UNIFFAC just over two years ago.
The astute administrator has been in office since after the cancellation of the elections of the Equatorial Guinea Football Federation president, Gustavo Ndong Edu.
He first came to the office courtesy article 19 section 8 of the UNIFFAC statutes which states;
“If the current president loses his capacity as president of his national association, he automatically loses that of the president of the zone and is replaced by the first vice-president.”
President Mayolas, 61, will continue to steady the UNIFFAC ship and push for better days for football in Central Africa.
President Yanindji Celestin of CAR and Monteiro Domingos of Sao Tome and Principe get into the bureau as vice presidents, Equatorial Guinea’s Micha Ndong and Samuel Eto’o Fils of Cameroon have been co-opted as executive Bureau members.
