The players of Guinea Bissau senior men’s national team got a Presidential blessing ahead of their participation at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
The national team on Wednesday received the national flag at the Palace of the Republic, in the hands of the President of the Republic, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, to represent the country at AFCON 2023.
Receiving the flag from the President is a sign of national blessing to boost players’ morale ahead of their quest at Africa’s biggest football Mundial taking which will commence on January 13, 2023.
The team has a huge task in their bid to qualify from a tough group having host, Ivory Coast; three-time champions, Nigeria; and Equatorial Guinea.
In a related development, midfielder Alfa Semedo and Moreto Cassama, defender Mancone Soriano Mane, and forward Famana Quizera joined the team in training on Tuesday.
