Experienced midfielder Tantoh Melvis Ngifor, has been appointed deputy trainer of ambitious Lekie Filles of Yaounde.
The club that conquered the women’s flagship championship in Cameroon last season have decided to include the 28-year-old in their technical crew for the rest of the season, despite her being one of their key midfielders.
Tantoh helped the club to a maiden domestic championship crown last term and was retained for her midfield role ahead of this season, before the management led by Honorable Koa Luc decided to add her to the Stephane Ndzana-led technical crew.
The former Rivers Angels and Awa Filles playmaker with three consecutive Guinness Super League championship medal in her trophy cabinet will add to the already -existing winning mentality that has been instituted at the club in the past 12 months.
Before her appointment, Tantoh had completed at least two training courses organized by the Cameroon football federation in view of becoming a trainer.
Though coaching is usually a prime activity to footballers upon retirement, the former Longla Comprehensive Colleague graduate has an early appointment, which she is supposed to blend with playing during the twilight of his career.
The Cameroon international is arguably one of the most intelligent footballer in the Guinness Super League with a very sound education. This aspect has helped her classic 14-year-old football career that started in Bamenda, took her to Ebolowa, Nigeria and back in Cameroon since 2021.
Tantoh has won the Guinness Super League championship in each of the past three seasons – two with Awa Filles FC and the other last season with Lekie Filles.
She is part of the squad to face Éclair of Sa’a in their third Guinness Super League game of the season this Sunday at the Olembe Annex stadium in Yaoundé.
