A crowd of supporters saw the gates of the reunification Annex Stadium slammed to their face as PWD of Bamenda faced off with Stade de Bandjoun in the first semi final fixture of the Cameroon cup.
The game which started at 1:30 pm had reached its full capacity before that time as stadium officials closed ticket sales 20 minutes into the encounter.
Disgruntled fan and journalist all the way from Bamenda expressed dissatisfaction to kick 442.
“I am a journalist from Bamenda, I travelled all night to come watch the game of PWD.But unfortunately it’s very difficult for us to get into the stadium .I have even presented my badge but it’s very difficult. We can see elot of fans trying to get into the stadium but it’s not possible…We wonder why a semi final match of the Cameroon cup will be played in a small stadium, whereas the big stadium is just beside the field”
Some supporters who provided tickets were asked you wait while those without tickets pushed forth, for a chance to procure one.
While waiting, the crowd will be stirred up as shouts coming from the stadium proved a goal had been scored.
The equalizer aggravated the situation as fans became more violent almost damaging the gate at the far left entrance , if not for the intervention of security forces.
Peter Kelvin another supporter from Santa questions why the central Africa Republic was granted access to the stadium for an AFCON qualifiers but fans of the Cameroon cup are deprived of opportunity to watch their teams play the semi finals.
“I left Santa yesterday evening ,I arrived here late due to the bad road , I reached the stadium at 1pm thinking I was going to support PWD … Few days ago Central African republic played Angola in the main stadium but fans are forced to watch the semi finals in the annex Stadium”
At Half time, a trunk of fans were allowed into the stadiums without tickets.
The match ended 2:1 in the favor of PWD without these fans getting a glimpse of the victory.
