The 2024 edition of Cameroon Badminton Cup finals was a roaring success, as the country’s top players battled it out for the prestigious titles last weekend.
Defending champions Akoumba Ze Laetitia and Kemene Félix starred once again, retaining their women’s and men’s singles crowns respectively, while also triumphing in the mixed doubles.
In a thrilling weekend of action at the INJS gymnasium, FECABAD pulled off the challenge of organizing the event, which saw over 50 players from 12 clubs across 6 regions compete ( Center, Littoral, West, North, Adamoua and East).
There was high drama throughout, with closely contested matches in all five approved events – women’s and men’s singles, women’s and men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. New talent also emerged, with several unexpected names making the podium.
The tournament was graced by the presence of the representative from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Theodore Byem Assange, who witnessed the new champions being crowned.
As the curtains fell on the 2024 Cameroon Cup, attention now turns to the upcoming Master Douala Open in December, where the country’s Badminton elite will reconvene for another showdown.
