  • John Mary scored for the third game since he returned to the Chinese Super League but couldn’t help Mezzhi Hakka to get a good result
  • Mezzhi Hakka are currently occupies the bottom but one position in the Chinese Super League championship

Cameroonian forward John Mary scored his third goal of his second stint at Chinese Super League side Mezzhi Hakka this Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to prevent another defeat for the club facing relegation from the top-flight championship as they crashed 1-2 against Cangzhou at the Cangzhou Stadium.

Mary who had a 44th minute strike chalked off by the VAR crew finally got his goal in the 66th minute of the to give his side hopes of a comeback after Wang Peng and Zhukov Gerard had put the host 2-0 ahead before the interval.

Despite dominating the game with 55% of possession to show for it in the end, the efforts of Mary and co to get the equalizer proved abortive as Cangzhou held on to register their seventh win in 25 games this season while subjecting Mezzhi Hakka to their 12th defeat of the season.

Mary lasted full throttle upfront but couldn’t get the equalizer for Milan Ristic’s team and they sank to the last-but-one position on the log of the 16-club championship while Cangzhou moves up to ninth.

Mary’s mid season return to the club hasn’t been sufficient to improve their form or help the club out of the relegation battle which gets more trickish as games are drying out.
