Croatian based Nigerian goalie David Samuel eyes national team duty

Nigerian born goalkeeper David Samuel Nwolokor is stealing the show in the Croatian top league, where he currently plies his trade

The young goalkeeper, who presently features for NK Opatija, a top side in the Croatian domestic league.

David who joined Opatija from another top side, HNK Rijeka, has become the talking point in the European country owing to his sharp reflexes in between the sticks.

Speaking on his exploits so far, the dark skinned goaltender expressed delight at his stay in Croatia, saying that the competitiveness of the league has brought out the best in him

“The experience has been very exciting, even though very challenging but I’m enjoying it because it is bringing the best out of me.

“Unknown to many, the Croatian league is very tough and competitive, no team is a pushover here and you have to be good and strong to win titles,” said the soft spoken goalkeeper.

David Samuel, who has won the Croatian Cup with his team, revealed that his personal dream was to get a call up for national duty very soon.

“As a Nigerian, my dream is to represent my fatherland and I hope that happens soon.

“The green white colour of Nigeria is what I cherish a lot and I believe I have what it takes to wear this jersey”, added the goalkeeper.
