Recently-appointed Cotonsport of Garoua head coach, Daniel Breard is in the Northern capital city, Garoua.

The trainer who was named replacement of title winner, Jean Baptiste Bisseck last month touched-down in Garoua this Friday afternoon, to begin work with the Cotonites.

Coton, reigning Cameroon Champion appointed the French tactician as their lead trainer for the 2023/24 season over a month ago.

The 65-year-old former DC Motema Pemba trainer will watch Coton’s second-leg CAF Champions League first preliminary round clash against AS Real Bamako this Sunday from the stands of the Roumde Adjia Stadium.

During his time at Coton, Breard will be assisted by Christophe Ousmanou who returns to the club four years after his last spell.

Ousmanou’s name has been submitted to CAF as the lead trainer of Cotonsport for the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League, but we understand adjustments will be made after that phase of the competition.

Breard also previously had stints in Tunisia, and he will become the first foreign coach to manage Cotonsport since Lionel Soccia left the club in June 2016.

He is the sixth Frenchman to manage the Garoua outfit and the eighth foreign trainer in their illustrious history.

His staff will be complemented by Saidou Hamadjouda in double capacity as deputy trainer and goalkeeper trainer.

Cotonsport who are champions of the Cup of Cameroon and the MTN Elite One championship will look to retain both trophies this term and vogue for an honorable ride in the CAF Champions League.
