Stade Rennes and Cameroonian defender Christopher Maurice Wooh will miss the rest of the 2022/23 French Ligue 1 season after he picked up a ligament injury this week while representing his club.

Wooh, who has been a starter for the club this season is set to watch the remaining four matches of the season from the sidelines as his club battles to finish the season on a high.

The 21-year-old full Cameroon has featured in 13 games for the Brittany club this season and helped them enjoy a good run in the Europa League and domestic cup competitions.

Scan results produced on Friday suggest the player has done his internal lateral Ligament, which needs close to six weeks without regular activity to fully heal.

The defender who started and played well in Cameroon’s 1-0 win against Brazil in the last group game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is unavailable for Cameroon’s friendly games against Uganda and Mexico during the June international break.

The former RC Lens defender is expected to be back in action during pre-season ahead of the 2023/24 season.
