- Cameroonian defender Christopher Wooh has officially joined Spartak Moscow
- His departure marks the end of his journey in Ligue 1 as he embarks on a new chapter in his career
- Christopher receives appreciation following a press release published by Rennes
In a late-window move, Cameroon international, Christopher Wooh has completed his transfer from Stade Rennais to Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow.
The move was officially confirmed by his former French club this Friday, September 5, 2025. While the summer transfer window has already closed across most of Europe, including France, the Russian market remains open, allowing Spartak Moscow to secure the centre-back’s signature.
Wooh departs Rennes after a three-year spell with the Breton club, having originally arrived from RC Lens on the final day of the 2022 summer transfer window. During his time at the club, the 23-year-old established himself as a presence in the squad, making a total of 60 appearances for Les Rouge et Noir.
His departure marks the end of a chapter in Ligue 1 as he prepares to embark on a new challenge in a new country and league.
The catalyst for the transfer appears to have been a shift in the managerial plans at Rennes. According to reports, new coach Habib Beye did not include Wooh in his project for the season ahead.
Faced with the prospect of limited playing time in Brittany, the player opted to seek a fresh opportunity elsewhere rather than remain on the fringes of the squad.
In a classy farewell, Stade Rennais published a press release thanking the defender for his service. The statement highlighted his 60 appearances, wished him the best of luck in his future endeavours with both Spartak Moscow and the Cameroon national team, and noted that the Louvres-native would “soon discover the Russian league.”
The move offers Wooh a chance to reignite his club career at a prominent European side while continuing his development on the international stage.
