  • Leon Bell Bell will miss Cameroon’s clash against Mauritius Island this evening in Japoma
  • The German-based Cameroonian has suffered an ankle problem

German-based Cameroonian defender Leon Bell Bell will not make his debut for his country this Friday when they face Mauritius Island on match day one of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Indomitable Lions’ medical team has confirmed the player sits out of the game due to the injury picked up in his first coming into the national team.

The 27-year-old FC Magdeburg full-back had hoped to make his delayed international debut on arrival in the Lions’ den being one of the newcomers, but that won’t be this Friday.

The German-descent defender will stay in camp for treatment and observation before Tuesday’s game away to the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.

The Hanau-born versatile full-back previously played for Cameroon’s U-23s close to a decade ago. Unfortunately, he has to wait a little further to add value to Rigobert Song’s team.

His injury means only Faris Mobagna and Junior Tchamadeu are chasing their debut for the five-time champions during tonight’s game against Mauritius Island.

Cameroon hosts The Dodos of Mauritius Island tonight in an highly-awaited 8pm kick-off at the Japoma Omnisport stadium.

The Group D context without the former Mainz and Frankfurt man provides a chance for the seven-time FIFA World Cup participant who made the last eight in 1990 to show their credentials about participating in the 2026 tournament in The USA, Mexico and Canada.
