Cameroonian trio on lineup of PFL Africa Johannesburg event

On the heels of a historic sold-out debut event in Cape Town, South Africa earlier this month, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced the full fight card for the second event of the inaugural season of PFL Africa, which will take place at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, August 9.

At the inaugural event in Cape Town, eight Bantamweights and Heavyweights in total advanced to the semi-final of their respective divisional tournaments.

This time around, the best Featherweights and Welterweights on the continent will head to the SmartCage and look to advance to the PFL Africa Semifinals, the promotion said in a statement confirming the card on Thursday.

On the 10-fights card including eight tournament fights and two extra alternate bouts are three Cameroonian stars gunning for Gold as the inaugural tournament continues toward crowning the first-ever PFL Africa Champions.

Undefeated Cameroonian, Ayinda Octave known as “The Bantu Warrior” will headline the night when he takes on the Democratic Republic of Congo’s British Boloyang in a Welterweight First Round bout. Emilios Dassi; one of the most promising talents from the Francis Ngannou Foundation will square off with Angola’s Osvaldo Benedito in another Welterweight First Round Bout.
Desmond Awa Tamungang also known as “Black Dragon”, another rising talent from the Francis Ngannou Foundation will clash with Nigeria’s Kunle Lawal in a high stakes Welterweight Alternate Bout.

The main event in Johannesburg will be a must-see First Round matchup in the Featherweight Division, with Nigeria’s Patrick Ocheme (6-1) taking on Guinea’s Mohamed Camarta (5-2-1), while the co-main event will be Angola’s Shido Boris Esperanca (9-1) facing Gambia’s Ibrahima Mané (14-5).

In total the PFL Africa season will feature 32 fighters representing 15 African nations across four divisions with pioneer champions to be crowned during the final event in December to be hosted by Benin.
