Experienced but young Cameroonian referee Tambe Brenda has graduated from the University of Buea, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, while continuing her rise as one of the country’s elite women’s football officials.
Brenda, who currently officiates in the Guin3ess Super League — Cameroon’s women’s top-flight championship — completed her studies alongside the physical and mental demands of refereeing at the highest domestic level.
The South West–based referee rose through the ranks of football in the region, handling grassroots and regional competitions before breaking into the national scene. Her consistent performances and discipline have earned her regular appointments in the Guinness Super League, where she is regarded as one of the promising officials in women’s football.
In a country where many referees pursue officiating without completing higher education, Blenda’s graduation places her among a rare group of Cameroonian match officials who hold a university degree, highlighting a growing link between academic achievement and professional development in football.
Her success is also seen as a positive signal for women’s football and officiating in Cameroon, particularly in the South West Region, where opportunities have often been limited by broader challenges.
Brenda’s achievement is expected to inspire young referees — especially women — to combine education with sport, as she continues to balance academic success with a career in top-flight football officiating.
