- Cameroon’s U20 national team has checked into the La Falaise Hotel in Douala this Tuesday September 3
- This move comes amid uncertainty surrounding the senior national team’s participation against Namibia, as FECAFOOT has issued a warning for players to report by 8 AM on Wednesday or face consequences
- The U20 squad is believed to be the national teams replacement in if the senior players fail to comply
Cameroon’s U20 Lions have checked into the La Falaise Hotel in Bonanjo, Douala this Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The young Lions, who had been in a secluded training camp at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo ahead of the UNIFFAC U20 tournament in Brazzaville, Congo, have been lodged in the same hotel designated by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) to host the senior national team.
The U20 players are expected to fill in for the senior squad, in their upcoming match against Namibia on Saturday, if the senior players fail to show up at the La Falaise Hotel in Douala by Wednesday as instructed by FECAFOOT
FECAFOOT had released a strongly-worded letter on Tuesday, calling on the senior players to report to their designated training base at the La Falaise Hotel in Cameroon’s economic capital, threatening severe consequences if they fail to comply by 8 AM on Wednesday.
The communique explains that the senior team’s decision to travel to Yaoundé is an act of sabotage by ill-intentioned individuals to destabilize the squad ahead of the clash with the Brave Warriors of Namibia
No definitive conclusions can be drawn until 8 AM on Wednesday, but it seems unlikely that the senior national team will travel to Douala[4][6].
The Indomitable Lions carried out their first training session on Tuesday at the Annex One of the Omnisport Stadium in Yaounde, with plans to continue training until Friday when they jet off to the northern city of Garoua
Reports also suggest that the Brave Warriors are likely to enter Cameroon on Wednesday
