Cameroon have submitted head coach Marc Brys’ 55-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, meeting the 21 November deadline set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The announcement comes at a time when Brys’ future has remained the subject of debate following Cameroon’s failure to reach the 2026 World Cup, yet the federation proceeded with his list in full compliance with the requirements of the Confidence World of African Football, just as the 23 other AFCON-bound nations did.

The squad includes several notable names such as Carlos Baleba, Bryan Mbeumo, Jackson Tchatchoua, Vincent Aboubakar and Eyong Etta Karl. Their inclusion suggests Brys is seeking a balance between established leadership and emerging talent capable of responding to the physical and tactical demands awaiting the Indomitable Lions in Morocco. Baleba brings energy and progression in midfield, Mbeumo adds creativity and attacking versatility, Tchatchoua strengthens wide defensive options, Aboubakar remains the team’s natural focal point in attack, and young Etta Karl represents the coach’s willingness to promote new profiles.

The provisional squad also highlights Brys’ evolving selection strategy, with several previously regular names omitted and replaced by players showing stronger club form or tactical suitability. It reinforces the impression that the final squad will be determined on performance rather than reputation, a stance consistent with Brys’ approach since taking charge.

With the provisional list now validated, attention shifts to 11 December, the deadline for submitting the final 23-man squads for AFCON 2025. The tournament kicks off on 21 December in Morocco and will run until 18 January, giving Brys a tight window to refine his squad while navigating competitive pressure and ongoing public scrutiny. For now, his selections reflect continuity, conviction and a clear desire to construct a balanced team as the race for places intensifies.
