Cameroon in Pot 2 of AFCON 2025 draw

Five-time African champions, Cameroon have been drawn in pot 2 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw to be conducted on January 27 in. Rabat, Morocco.

The information was contained in a release published by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) this Monday in the sidelines of the announcement of the draw date after the last executive committee meeting of the body happened in Marrakech.

The different pots made according to the FIFA Coca-Cola ranking of the national teams will determine which nations can be drawn against each other during the January 27 event.

Generally Pot 1 contains the six highest ranked national teams including the host while the rest of the three pots have three groups of the six teams each.

According to the CAF technical department host and 1976 winners – Morocco, 2021 winners – Senegal, 2019 winners Algeria, Nigeria who are three times champions, holders Cote d’Ivoire and record champions Egypt.

Cameroon on their part are in Pot 2 with the next six highest ranked teams including big guns like 2004 champions Tunisia, who are joined in Pot two by 1996 winners South Africa, DR Congo plus 2013 finalist Burkina Faso.

AFCON 2023 sensation Angola, Gabon, 2012 winners Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea and Benin are in Pot 3 and each of them are opened to be drawn against the nations in the other port.

Mozambique, Comoros Island, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Sudan, host of the maiden edition of the competition will complete Pot 4.
