Historic Cameroonian club Racing de Bafoussam is facing one of the most difficult moments in its history, with financial problems once again threatening its stability.
The match scheduled for this Sunday between Racing de Bafoussam and US Abongbang will not take place after the team failed to travel for the fixture due to lack of financial resources. According to sources close to the club, neither the technical staff nor the players were able to make the trip to Abongbang because no funds were secured to cover transportation and related expenses.
The situation highlights the depth of the crisis currently affecting the once-powerful club from the West Region. Racing, historically nicknamed the “Tout-Puissant de l’Ouest” (The All-Powerful of the West), now appears far removed from its former glory, with even basic logistics such as away travel becoming a major challenge.
Financial instability has plagued the club for the past four years. During this period, Racing de Bafoussam has struggled to maintain normal operations, with recurring difficulties related to funding, administration, and overall management of the team.
Sportingly, the consequences could soon become severe. With crucial matches being missed or compromised, the club risks slipping further down the standings and could ultimately face relegation if urgent measures are not taken.
There are growing calls for intervention from regional elites and local authorities within the Mifi Division to help rescue the struggling club. Municipal councils of Bafoussam I, Bafoussam II, and Bafoussam III, along with the Communauté urbaine de Bafoussam, have been urged to step in and help save one of the region’s most historic football institutions.
Without swift and coordinated action, many fear that Racing de Bafoussam could continue its downward spiral, putting the future of a club that once stood as a symbol of pride for the West Region of Cameroon in serious jeopardy.
