Bessong Thomas Makia, the long-serving administrative agent from Cameroon’s Southwest region, is among a group of football officials dismissed nationwide last Tuesday, according to local football sources.

While Makia is based in the Southwest, the reported dismissals are understood to be part of a country-wide administrative restructuring by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT). Lists circulating within football circles indicate that 12 officials from different regions of the country were affected.

Those reportedly dismissed alongside Makia include Eluna Bertrand, Mme Temgoua Marie Claude, Mabouang Kessak, Djim Manga, Mouandjo Jean Jacques, Mme Palo Gisèle, Mbassi Daniel, Sali El Adj, Haoiaou Bello, Gwladys and Ekassi Ngaba.

Makia has spent more than a decade working in football administration in the Southwest, where he was responsible for league coordination, club documentation and regulatory matters at grassroots level. His reported dismissal has attracted particular attention in the region, given his long service and close working relationships with local clubs and stakeholders.

In the meantime, all the officials concerned have reportedly been removed from FECAFOOT’s internal staff WhatsApp group, a move that local sources say has reinforced the perception that the dismissals have already taken effect, despite the absence of a formal public announcement.

FECAFOOT has not released an official statement confirming the dismissals or providing reasons for the move. The absence of official communication has fuelled speculation over the scope of the restructuring and the criteria used to remove the affected officials.

The reported sackings come amid ongoing tension within Cameroonian football under FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, with disputes over governance, leadership decisions and institutional control continuing to dominate discussion around the national game.

As clubs and administrators await clarification, attention is now focused on whether FECAFOOT will formally address the reported dismissals and how the changes will affect football administration across the country.
