In a thrilling semi-final match at the Afrobasket U18 compétition Cameroon edged past reigning bronze medalists Angola with a final score of 65-63.
The game started with Angola taking an early lead, going up 4-0 before Cameroon’s Yolande Masndi and Andrianne Abada quickly responded, narrowing the gap to 5-4.As the first quarter progressed, Angola managed to maintain a slight edge, leading 9-7 midway through the quarter.
However, Cameroon fought back, with Abada’s remarkable jump shot putting them ahead 11-10. Damaris Emedie played a crucial role in the offensive push, helping Cameroon to extend their lead to 15-10 leading to 20-14 by the end of the quarter.

The third quarter saw both teams battling fiercely, with Cameroon’s Suzy Nyeck leveling the score at 33. Despite their efforts, Cameroon found themselves playing catch-up until they finally regained the lead at 40-39.
In a critical moment, Ketcha Nganga missed an uncontested floater that could have sent the game into overtime. However, Abada showcased her determination, driving past the Angolan defense for a layup that ultimately secured the win for Cameroon.
The match highlighted the fine margins that can determine the outcome of a game. Angola led in steals with 15 compared to Cameroon’s 6 but struggled to capitalize on turnovers, scoring only 18 points off them while Cameroon managed to convert 22 points from turnovers.
Damaris Emedie excelled for Cameroon, achieving her fourth double-double of the tournament with 15 points and 19 rebounds. Kelga Kibo also contributed significantly, adding 12 points and 8 rebounds despite a challenging night offensively.
