Cotonsport of Garoua will return to their base in Garoua this Friday, close to a week after defeating Canon Yaounde 2-0 to land a record 18th domestic title.
Coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s team delayed their return due to their engagement in the 32nd finals of the Cup of Cameroon. The cup holders picked up a 4-0 win against YOSA of Bamenda on Thursday, icing what has already been a beautiful cake.
The Garoua giants are expected in town later this Friday. It is hoped that a number of events and celebrations will mark their homecoming.
Cotonsport conquered city rival Gazelle FA, Canon Yaounde and Bamboutos FC of Mbouda in a one week playoffs tournament to win the title for the third season in a row.
President Fernand Sadou’s men remain in the running to defend the Cup of Cameroon title while they make their bags ahead of next season’s CAF Champions League as flag bearers.
They will face the winner between APEJES of Mfou and Best Talents FC of Yaounde in the 16th final on a date to be announced.
